One Month Deep

Fall Retreat 2014God is moving in the city of Portland!  We are so encouraged by everything we have seen during our short time here.  Max and I have spent most of our time on WSU-Vancouver.  During the involvement fair, we were able to collect 120+ names of students who were interested in learning more about God and Cru!  We are now calling through all those cards and meeting up with students.  One of those students is Nikayla.  She is a freshman from Camas.  When we first met up a week ago, I was asking her about her spiritual background; she was raised “Christian” and said that she would identify as such.  We continued talking about God, morals, etc, but when I asked her who Jesus was, she merely said she didn’t know much about Him.  I was able to share the Gospel with Nikayla, and told her to take the next week to think about what we talked about, and we would meet up next week to talk further.  When the next Tuesday rolled around, Nikayla and I again met up, and within 3 minutes, she indicated that this was what she wanted for her life, and prayed to receive Christ.  Pray for Nikayla as she starts her walk with the Lord!

While we aren’t at University of Portland, half of our staff team spends their time on that campus throughout the week.  Last week, one student prayed to receive Christ, and this week, two students have indicated decisions!  We are so encouraged by what God has been doing in this city.

Time is flying by, and we can’t believe how quickly our events are coming up.  Please be praying for our first week on PSU; “Viking Days” are September 22-27.  We will be setting up tables on campus, hosting events, and trying to make our presence known!  The activities will culminate on Saturday, when the staff will take all the students on Portland’s “4-T Trail.”  Be praying these events launch the start of a great year!

At WSU-V, we will be hosting our “Big Cru” October 16.  Currently, our weekly meeting is held Wednesday afternoons in the Library.  On October 16, we will move it later in the day and hopefully draw a larger crowd with pizza, worship, and Matt Mikalatos.  Our students are so excited about this event, and we are praying that many will come and hear about Christ!

And lastly, Cru’s Fall Retreat is coming up October 24-25.  We will be going to Canby, OR, to spend some time building community and growing in our faith.  Fall Retreats are so pivotal in so many students lives; we can’t wait to see what God does! Pray that students attend, and that their hearts are soft to what God will teach them!
